On Wednesday, February 6, the Colorado Black Round Table will host a community engagement session with the hopes of hearing from both the DCTA and DPS on the current state of the teacher negotiations. The CBRT invites the community to attend and hear the positions of both sides.
“The purpose of this meeting is for taxpayers, citizens, former and current elected officials, parents, students and community to hear the positions of both sides. In addition, we feel it is necessary for both the district and the union to hear from Black and Brown parents and community on the contract issues and other educational concerns and issues that must be put on the table for discussion and action. (…) It is our position that the voices of the community are being left out of the discussions regarding the future of education in our city. However, it is our tax dollars that will fund pay increases and it is our black and brown students who have the most to lose.”
