African American Education Network Website: A New Information and Navigation Tool

The Bailey Blog

As we engaged in the implementation of the recommendations of the African American Equity Task Force and gathered additional feedback from the community, one of the issues that consistently emerged was the need for tools to assist African American parents and students in navigating Pre-K education in Denver and beyond. We heard you! The African American Education Network is designed to provide such a resource. Parents and students can utilize the site to find key links to DPS tools like the School Choice SchoolFinder, parent and student portals, programs and trainings, student support services, college and scholarship resources, and community-based programs that provide assistance and enrichment for students.

You can also find useful links to research related to closing achievement and opportunity gaps for African American students, as well as key links to resources related to African American history and culture that can be useful for all educators, parents and students who may wish to enhance their knowledge base and understanding.

Visitors to the site can also contact the African American Education Network to submit an event, ask a question, signup for email updates or nominate an outstanding individual in the district or community to spotlight for their work to improve outcomes for African American students. Spread the word. Let’s utilize this resource to build community around progress for our students.
