Join Team DPS at the MLK Marade

The DPS community is invited to join Denver Board of Education members, district leadership, educators and students as we come together Monday, Jan. 21, to commemorate the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 33rd annual MLK Jr. Marade.

Meeting Up:

Team DPS will be meeting between 8:30-9 a.m. at the East High School main entrance steps (facing City Park Esplanade) before heading over to the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial. You are also welcome to join us around the memorial- just look for the DPS sign. The program begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a walk to Civic Center Park at 10:30 a.m. Please RSVP here to get last minute details and changes!

Location:

The program will begin at City Park and end at Civic Center Park. Here is a link to the route map, which is roughly the length of a 5K. The speakers will be located at the Martin Luther King Memorial.

Parking and Travel:

Parking and travel can be a challenge, so we suggest that you consider carpooling or take public transit (however- the routes will be detoured beginning at 9:30 a.m.). If you wish to park, we suggest parking at East High School (we’ve been told that the lot fills up rapidly and street parking becomes scarce by 9:30).

What to Bring:

Remember, weather can be unpredictable this time of year! Here’s how to be the most comfortable:

  • Dress in layers. Although the weather in the morning may be cold, it may warm up during the Marade.
  • Consider bringing hand warmers
  • Bring a water bottle!
  • Wear comfy shoes- we will be walking roughly the length of a 5K

Live the Shared Core Value of FUN by sharing your pics with Team DPS!
